Who We Are

The Hawaii Public Charter Schools Network supports and connects public charter schools across Hawaiʻi. The Network works to strengthen schools, advocate for equitable resources, and bring together a statewide community of charter school leaders.

Our Purpose

The purpose of the Network is to empower, support, and unify public charter schools across the state.

It connects schools to each other and to broader efforts beyond Hawaiʻi, while providing information and services that help schools meet the needs of their communities.

How the Network Supports Schools

Public charter schools in Hawaiʻi operate with independence, but within a highly centralized statewide system. This can create challenges around funding, operations, and access to resources.

The Network exists to help schools navigate those challenges by:

  • Advocating for fair funding and facilities support

  • Providing guidance and resources for school operations

  • Creating opportunities for collaboration across schools

These roles have developed over time as the charter school system in Hawaiʻi has grown and evolved.

A Statewide Network

The Network brings together schools with a wide range of approaches to learning, including culture-based education, project-based models, and other community-driven programs.

By staying connected, schools are able to share ideas, address challenges, and strengthen the overall charter school system across Hawaiʻi.

Why It Matters

Charter schools in Hawaiʻi serve diverse communities across the islands. Many are rooted in local values, culture, and place-based learning.

The Network helps ensure these schools have the support they need to continue serving students and communities over time.
